Almond bars are a family favorite. I discovered these through my friend, Christen, a few years ago. They have been a staple ever since.
These cookies are really easy to make. They have a superb almond flavor and the perfect cookie texture. Plus, they have the bonus of being topped with sliced almonds and a sweet little glaze. These almond bars do not last long in my house.
I followed this recipe I found on All Recipes. You mix up the dough and put out on a parchment lined surface.
Then you cut it into 4 parts.
You take two portions and roll them out into about a foot long log.
Then you flatten them out until they are about a 3 inches wide.
You brush the bars with a little milk and top them with sliced almonds.
Then bake in a 325 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Take them out, cut them into bars and let them cool a bit. Top them with a glaze made with powdered sugar, milk and almond flavoring.
I promise you will love these!
