A few weeks ago, we hosted a wonderful little dinner party to honor the beginning of Spring. I teamed up with a few of my creative friends to create an amazing outdoor eating space and to preserve memories of this event. It was a fun way to collaborate and celebrate Spring, too.
We invited old friends and new friends, Clayton’s friends and my friends because we like to mix things up. I find that groups like this make for amazing conversation and this proved to be true that night. We also had the chance to wish two friends happy birthday!
We hauled our farm style table and fun red sofa out in the driveway to give the feel of a cozy dining room outdoors. We strung up some twinkly lights. I pulled some decor items off of my mantel and pulled out silver and mercury glass accessories that I borrowed from my Mom.
My friend, Jennifer, from dot & army had the perfect napkins to complement the colors in our sofa: gold polka dots on cream with navy edges and navy pin dot with a gold chevron accent. Then the literal topping on the cake, was the amazing rustic wooden flower box cake topper handmade by my friend, Cyle, from Hope Farm, Co. She also made the “Happy Birthday” sign, the chalkboard napkin tags and the chalkboard menu board.
We kept the food simple. I made the red velvet and vanilla naked cake and my friend, Aerial, made the delicious cheesecake topped with peaches. I’ll talk more details in later posts, but for now, I will just let some of JD’s amazing photos tell the story. It was a really beautiful evening!
Next week, I’ll share my menu and a bit about how I prepare for parties. Here’s a great post from Anna at The Yellow Table about how she throws a dinner party. I follow a lot of her great tips! When was the last time you threw a party?
