Warm Spring days make me want thirst quenching libations. I made this Pink Grapefruit Salty Dog because it totally fits that description. Salty, tangy and little sweet, this cocktail is the perfect sipper for Springtime happy hours.
The classic Salty Dog calls for grapefruit juice and vodka (sometime gin, too) in a salt rimmed glass. If you leave off the salted rim, it’s called a Greyhound. I like to make both of these drinks with pink grapefruit juice. It’s a little sweeter than regular grapefruit juice and I mean, who doesn’t like a pink drink?
My version contains vodka, pink grapefruit juice, a little squeeze of lime and a splash of soda or sparkling water. It’s amazingly easy to make. The salted rim is the trickiest part, but it’s not something that should scare you away. Pink Grapefruit Salty Dogs are also easy to drink. This recipe makes two cocktails, so be sure to share with a friend!
How do you like your Salty Dog? Do you hold the salt and go for the Greyhound instead? I’ll take them either way. Cheers!
