Timeless Cozy Comfort with an Old Fashioned and Jord Watches {Giveaway!}

January always seems like a hard month. We are rolling right off of the holidays into a time where most of us are trying on new habits. We might want to eat better or exercise more. Or maybe, we want to just slow down and enjoy life a little more after the rush of December.

If you are looking for a drink to help you ease into 2017, then look no further than the timeless Old Fashioned. It’s the perfect for this time of year because it is a cocktail that is bold and smooth. An Old Fashioned will knock the chill right out with its oomph and a tinge of complexity, depending on the type of bitters you use.

I am fortunate to have a friend who makes her own bitters. I was thrilled when my friend, Jovan of Sage’s Larder gave me this little bottle of Berber bitters. Don’t be fooled by the size of the bottle, this tincture is PACKED with deep flavors of orange, strong coffee and Ethiopian spices. These bitters are perfect for an Old Fashioned. If you can’t get your hands on similar bitters, you can easily substitute orange bitters or Angostura bitters.

I make my Old Fashioned using simple syrup, bitters, orange peel and bourbon. Sometimes, if I feel a little rowdy, I might add a little soda on top. Just a splash of soda. I know it isn’t traditional, but what fun is cocktail making if you can’t adjust the rules every now and then.

The Old Fashioned is such a timeless drink. I thought it was the perfect way to show you my new JORD watch. Ingredients

• 1 tsp simple syrup
• 3-5 dashes bitters, such as Angostura
• 2 ounces bourbon
• orange peel

Instructions

1. In a rocks glass combine simple syrup, bitters and bourbon.
2. Add ice and stir gently.
3. Rim glass with orange peel and squeeze it over the drink.
