This is the third and final post in my series about my little Valentine’s party with my hubs. So far, I have shared recipes for Chicken Fajita Nachos and Mango Passion Fruit Palomas. You know what comes last, right? If you said “dessert,” then you win. For dessert, I am serving these amazing Churros with a crazy easy chocolate dipping sauce.
Churros are strips of fried dough that are covered in cinnamon and sugar. They remind me of funnel cakes, crispy on the outside and soft pillows on the inside. I mean, who doesn’t love fried dough? Not only did I make tasty Churros, I also made chocolate sauce for dipping. Oh my!
This is the first time I have ever made Churros. I was a little intimidated because the process involves a piping bag and deep frying, but really, it was not hard at all. The first steps I took included, getting organized with my ingredients (key!) and reading and re-reading various recipes for Churros. When I finally came across this recipe from Baking Bites, I decided this was THE one and I went for it.
These Churros turned out to be scrumptious! It made me so happy to share them with my husband and it was nice to try something out of my norm for a sweet treat. So, give Churros with Chocolate Sauce a go. You just might find a new favorite dessert!

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup semi sweet chips
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 TBSP corn syrup
Instructions
- Stir together cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine butter and water and bring to a boil. When mixture is boiling, add in flour all at once and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together. Continue to stir and cook the dough for about 1 minute.
- Transfer to a large mixing bowl or to the bowl of an electric stand mixer. Turn the mixer on medium-high. Beat in the eggs one at a time, waiting until each has been well incorporated before adding the next. Batter may look wet before it comes together, but keep mixing and a smooth dough will form.
- Transfer dough to a pastry bag fitted with a medium or large star tip.
- Pour about 2-inches of oil into a deep saucepan. Bring the oil to about 365F.
- Pipe 5 to 6-inch pieces of churro dough into the hot oil and cook until golden brown, then flip and cook until golden on the second side (about 5-6 minutes total). Remove from oil and set on some paper towels to drain.
- Toss churros in cinnamon sugar mixture. Place in a warm oven until serving time.
- To make chocolate sauce, combine chocolates chips, heavy cream and corn syrup in a microwaveable bowl.
- Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir well. If chips are not melted, microwave for 30 seconds more. Then stir until smooth.
