Nothing says Summer vacation like a nice refreshing cocktail. These Cantaloupe Basil Gin Cocktails are the epitome of Summer freshness. Each glass is full of flavors of herb and melon that are sure to please!
We are headed off for a week’s vacation to Edisto Island, SC. Edisto is a sleepy beach town that we love. It’s one of those rare places where all there is to do is relax and enjoy the sea. We have been going there since our older boys were small, but in recent years our trips have been few and far between. So, I am very excited to go back to explore the Live oak and Spanish moss-covered roads and sit on a beautiful beach. I am thrilled to enjoy crabbing and watching the tide come and go from our creek front rental. But, more than anything I am so ready to take a break and recharge with my family and friends.
This cocktail is kind of like Summer in a glass. I pureed fresh chunks of cantaloupe with lime juice to make a refreshing base. Then I combined that with lots of sliced basil and gin. I let the flavors marinate in the fridge and then poured the heavenly concoction over ice. The resulting cocktail was so, so incredible!
I am pretty sure that I have told you before, that I am a relatively new fan of gin. I used to hate the taste of it and think that was mainly due to the brands of gin I had been exposed to. Now, I really love a good gin cocktail made with Hendrick’s or my new favorite, The Botanist. To me good gin has crisp botanical flavors and isn’t heavy on juniper. This makes a great base for tasty cocktails like these Cantaloupe Basil Gin cocktails.
These Cantaloupe Basil Gin Cocktails are chock full of fresh, bright flavors that are perfect for happy hour after a long day by the pool, lake or beach. I am pretty sure these are on my “to make” list during our vacation!
