How to plan the perfect brunch: Mother’s Day Brunch Menu Planning Guide:

Following this Brunch planning guide and the meal will come together in a snap. If you do a little bit of prep ahead of time, on the day of the brunch you will be relaxed and ready to enjoy the day!

One week before: Print out all of the recipes and make a shopping list of the items you need to buy.

Three days before: Go grocery shopping. I like to get this out of the way early. I know I usually have to go back for last minute items, but for most of this menu you can buy everything you need several days ahead. Then, make the salad dressing and refrigerate.

Two days before: Make the grits and pour them into a casserole dish. Refrigerate until the day of your brunch.

The day before: Prepare the cake. You could even prepare the cake layers several days in advance and freeze them. Then all you would have to do is assemble the cake. Either way, this cake is best made the day before. It gives time for the jam between the layers to soak into the cake. Yum!

Also boil the eggs. Shell them and store in a container in the refrigerator.

Set your table with plates, utensils and napkins. Pull out serving plates, spoons and forks as well.

The day of: Assemble the deviled eggs and place them on a serving platter. Store these in the fridge until your guests arrive. Bake the pimento cheese grits casserole and keep warm. Roast the asparagus. While the asparagus is in the oven. Make the salad and put it in a serving bowl.

Pull out the orange juice and champagne for Mimosas. Have Mimosas and deviled eggs ready to serve as guests arrive.

When it’s time to serve brunch, put the salad dressing, salad, casserole and asparagus out for guests. You can lay them out buffet style or pass these dishes at the table.

Enjoy your Mother’s Day Brunch!
